The Labour Employment Training & Factories Department, Govt. of Telangana on May 08, 2026, issued the Draft Telangana Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Rules, 2026.
The following has been stated:
• The draft introduces a comprehensive compliance framework covering registration of establishments, duties of employers and employees, occupational safety standards, welfare facilities, working hours, leave with wages, employment of women, contract labour, inter-State migrant workers, inspector-cum-facilitator functions, maintenance of electronic registers and returns, and penalties for non-compliance.
• It also provides for digital registration and licensing, appointment of safety officers and welfare officers, constitution of safety committees, mandatory reporting of accidents and dangerous occurrences, medical examinations, canteen, crèche and welfare facilities, and enhanced safeguards for hazardous processes and worker health.
• The draft aims to modernize workplace regulation by promoting electronic compliance, improving occupational safety standards, strengthening worker welfare, and aligning Telangana's labour framework with the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020.
• Objections and suggestions on the draft are invited within 45 days from its publication in the Official Gazette.
